(specodelic: pi-session investigation → epic-orchestrator pipeline
shipped; close ritual)
Investigated October pi sessions (62 in specodelic,
~117 total): the only autonomous-orchestration attempt was 2026-10-06 —
tdd-ro5 pipeline committed that day, one orchestrator session ran
orchestrator+pi-subagent pattern. Verdict: mechanically worked
(specodelic-txo slice 1 + specodelic-7ga phase 3 landed, gates green,
pushed) but needed 5 user corrections in the first
hour: inline-execution drift, --no-session spawn
(usage records lost), ticket-boundary chaining, state invisibility ("is
the refactoring done?"), and the 7ga subagent skipping
wai pipeline next + hand-bumping the run YAML 4→8. Run
files caught: 7ga stuck at 8/9.
Diagnosis: tdd-ro5 is an executor pipeline; no
orchestrator pipeline existed, so the loop lived only in conversation.
The reflection file was written after the session — nothing
enforced discipline during it.
Also filed specodelic-167: just ci
broken at HEAD — clippy 1.98 question_mark lint on
untouched Rust (pre-existing toolchain drift).
Reflection updated (aef83bf):
orchestrator-pi-subagents.md now points at the pipeline as the control,
not just rationale. k9v closed.
Routed to general memory
(~/.whisper/rules.md): the orchestrator+subagent pattern
with the 5 failure modes and their enforcement points — usable by any
wai project.
Unresolved: commit 8e0156d message
cites clippy issue as specodelic-j8q but actual ID is
specodelic-167. Fix needs amend + force-push to main →
awaiting user authorization.
Next: next specodelic session:
wai pipeline start epic-orchestrator --topic="<ticket>: <what>"
and let the pipeline drive delegation; decide on the force-push
amendment.

(testaruda: testaruda-2xn1 merged, v0.5.2 released & exec-bit
verified live)
Merged PR #62 (fix/testaruda-2xn1-ci-ingest →
main): CI ingest now reads collection_path junit XML when the adapter
rewrites it during a run (mtime snapshot, stale-file guard); untracked
store root fixed via testaruda init.
Released v0.5.2: PR #63 closed, tag pushed, release
workflow ran — 5 assets published (linux/macos/windows binaries +
checksums.txt), marked latest. Exec-bit fix verified
live: curl | tar xz on
testaruda_0.5.2_linux_amd64.tar.gz → binaries
-rwxr-xr-x, ./testaruda --version = 0.5.2.
DDL-3av fix validated against the real install path.
Diagnosed Publish Release failure (first real-world
exec-bit complaint was the tarball; failure itself is tap):
Update Homebrew tap fails with blank
TAP_GITHUB_TOKEN — pre-existing, every release since 0.3.1
failed the same way; tap has been stale since 0.5.1's own failed update.
Filed bd P1 (Homebrew tap update fails on release: blank
TAP_GITHUB_TOKEN secret, tap stale since 0.5.1).
Julia adapter env fix: Testimonial.jl packages
(MbedTLS/HTTP/Coverage) failed to precompile, breaking all adapter_julia
tests; fixed via per-package Pkg.precompile() in the
project. Handshake now returns ok.
Next: re-set the TAP_GITHUB_TOKEN repo
secret (contents:write on homebrew-charly + scoop-charly) and re-run the
Publish Release job; also confirm the sco update failure is the same
blank-token root cause.
Diagnosed the misplaced
~/PROJECTOR/Movies/ files:
Midsomer Murders/Season NN/N.mkv has no SxxEyy markers
anywhere → projector-queue classified the whole tree as a movie and
to-projector wrote bare N.mkv flat into
Movies/; 20 seasons collided on 9 filenames, most episodes
silently skipped, sources moved to DONE anyway.
Identified the 9 stray files by exact duration
matching against DONE sources: S01E01–E05 (Season 01 is 0-based —
confirmed via runtimes), S04E05/06, S07E07, S08E08.
Fixed both scripts: projector-queue
classify() now detects Season NN subdirs
(routes to Shows/); to-projector gained season_dir_subdir()
fallback deriving Show/Season NN/Show SxxEyy.mkv from path
context, with 0-based shift when a 0.* sibling exists.
Repaired library: moved the 9 strays into proper
Jellyfin layout (skipped on re-run, not re-converted), re-queued the
other 113, ran the fixed pipeline — all 122 episodes
now in Shows/Midsomer Murders/, season counts match
sources, 0 failures, verified h264/stereo-AAC; Movies/
clean (3 real movies).
Committed & pushed canticos
0383ce4 (explicit paths, hooks green). Initially tried
chezmoi add → discovered ~/.local/bin entries are symlinks
into canticos; reverted the chezmoi changes (dotfiles repo
untouched).
Routed to whisper: new
~/.whisper/repos/cv:charly-vibes/canticos/env.md
(symlink/chezmoi trap, projector library conventions).
Untracked residue left alone in canticos: .claude/,
mini-zoomit.zip.
Next: nothing pending — consider tracking the
-- flag-swallowing quirk in projector-queue if it bites
again.
Session:20:25
(wai: update-check downgrade bug fixed end-to-end, doctor manual-cycle
detection fixed, two PRs merged)
Diagnosed the bogus
wai-cli 2026.9.28 available — you have 2026.10.4 notice:
genesis update_check used string inequality
(latest != current) against a 7-day-cached
latest, so a newer installed version looked outdated.
Cleared symptom by deleting
~/.cache/genesis/update-check/wai-cli.json; filed
genesis-u47.
Verified genesis-u47 fixed & released
(genesis-vibes 0.12.1 on crates.io, issue closed).
Issue-review (Rule of 5) on the
orchestration-guideline cluster (8 beads + 2 GH): wai-2am8 premise
half-superseded (tdd-ro5 template already encodes gates since
v2026.10.x); 1 CRITICAL fixed — wai-khgi was READY while hard-blocked on
genesis release → set blocked; retitled wai-2am8 to remaining work;
tagged wai-fvhv.92 design; metadata.files on all 8. Verdict
NEEDS_UPDATES → applied.
wai-2am8 slice 1 done, PR #37 merged (CI green
3m18s):manual_cycle_matches rewritten line-based
regex — removed overbroad "follow " and dead literal regex;
added ascii-arrow + spread-word patterns;
wai pipeline start pointer lines never match. 6 new tests
(red→green); 505 bin tests + clippy -D warnings green; live-verified on
this repo. Slice 2 (AGENTS.md prose redirect) gated on wai-fvhv.92.
wai-khgi done, PR #38 merged (CI green 3m28s):
genesis-vibes 0.11→0.12.1 +
tests/update_check_regression.rs — downgrade scenario
proven red on 0.11.1 (Some(UpdateInfo) suggesting
2026.9.28 over installed 2026.10.4), green on 0.12.1;
notice-when-newer + equal-versions cases. 1255 tests green. wai-khgi
closed.
Session friction recorded:.beads/ is
gitignored in wai (issues.jsonl not committed despite AGENTS.md text);
bd sync autostash churn on .beads/backup/backup_state.json
broke git pull --rebase twice — checkout that file before
pulling, drop stale autostashes. Routed to
~/.whisper/repos/cv:charly-vibes/wai/branches/main/notes.md.
Next: wai-2am8 slice 2 after the wai-fvhv.92
pipelines-core-vs-optional decision; next wai release will carry the
genesis fix to installed binaries.
Session:20:38
(cross-repo: orchestration-confusion investigation → global orchestrator
canon + wai-gkk3)
Reviewed today's pi sessions: specodelic
orchestrator (18:06) succeeded — read the repo reflection first; tambor
(21:40) and wanna (22:59) both spawned --no-session
subagents — the same mistake the user corrected 3× in 2 days across 3
repos. Root cause: the pattern lived only in specodelic's repo-local
reflection; fresh repos = fresh context; wai search is
repo-scoped.
Rule-of-5 review of the investigation + ownership
question: verdict NEEDS_REVISION on my own first recommendation ("pi
skill in ~/.agents") — it would have created a 4th fork. Final answer:
wai owns the invariants, repos own specifics
(gates/ratchets), thin projections own tool syntax.
Created the canon:
~/.wai/resources/patterns/orchestrator-subagents.md — 8
tool-agnostic invariants (lead orchestrates only; never ephemeral; one
ticket per advance; briefs are committed repo artifacts; verify before
trust; retry = new named session; progress must be
pokeable; prose does not enforce — tool it). Slimmed after user
review (stripped ticket IDs, repo gate lists, history). Chezmoi-tracked:
dotfiles dot_wai/ (7704309, 65a2e21).
Repo projections synced: tambor reflection
created+committed (81af46f — it had none), wanna canon pointer committed
(0e0bfa→0e11bfa), specodelic pointer left uncommitted (in-flight
pipeline run sweeps it). Dropped vendoring+just-recipe idea per user:
"completely managed by wai".
Filed wai-gkk3 (P2): wai prime should
list global ~/.wai/resources/patterns/ unconditionally
(digest-bounded), wai search should index global resources.
Evidence comment: turu global scope already had the orchestrator
pattern since Oct 6 and sessions still failed — renew loop only
recalls repo/branch, turu managed block never synced →
discipline-dependent surfacing fails under orchestration load; passive
surfacing is the deciding factor.
whisper/turu comparison: turu's scope ladder
(global/group/repo/branch/worktree) is the model wai lacks; its
append/supersede/usage-telemetry beats wai's forked whole-file
reflections. Appended canon-pointer entry to
~/.whisper/rules.md (7e623cc1, topic pi-orchestration)
declaring the wai canon canonical.
Persistence discovered: ~/.whisper
symlinks into the journal repo — rules.md is backed by journal commits,
not chezmoi; committed rules.md there (75600ff). Dotfiles stays
whisper-free.
Next: implement wai-gkk3 in a fresh wai session
(small TDD task: prime patterns-section test + search global-scope
test). specodelic pointer commit rides with its active session.
